Minimally Processed, Exceptionally Fresh Milk

After mastering cheesemaking, Farm Life Creamery became the only small, on-farm, Grade A licensed bottling plant in South Dakota.

Today, we source fresh Grade A milk from local South Dakota dairies and bring it to Farm Life Creamery, where we process and bottle it in small batches. We pasteurize our milk “low and slow” using traditional vat pasteurization—145°F for 30 minutes—and leave it non-homogenized.

 

That means the cream naturally rises to the top. Just give it a good shake and enjoy!

It's a simple approach: great local milk, minimal processing, small batches and the rich, creamy flavor Farm Life customers have come to love.

And… PREMIUM Ice Cream!

Because we couldn't stop at cheese and milk, we added premium ice cream, too! What started as another way to celebrate dairy has grown into a big part of Farm Life Creamery. From cones and shakes to seasonal flavors, floats and ice cream cakes, we're always finding something fun to create.

A True Farm Experience

Farm Life Creamery has always been about more than the products we make.

 

Our farm/creamery near Ethan became a place where people could experience a little piece of rural South Dakota, learn about dairy processing and simply have fun together.

​

Over the years, visitors have met our colorful cast of farm animals—including horses, miniature horses, goats, pigs, sheep, calves, cats, geese, ducks, chickens, emus, alpacas and our mini-donkey, Jack. We also created an 18-hole mini golf course, the (self-proclaimed) largest tire swing in South Dakota, GellyBall, a tractor-tire playground and spaces that have welcomed school field trips, tours, birthday parties, company gatherings, family events and plenty of Sunday drives.

 

The Ethan farm is closed to visitors for the 2026 season.

While the farm takes a season off, Farm Life Creamery is still busy making cheese, bottling milk and getting Farm Life products out to our customers.
